What is the Approximate Cost to Exterminate Bed Bugs From a Home?

Posted on November 6, 2018December 7, 2020 by Lawrence Saucedo

What is the cost for bed bug extermination? Even though finding out that your house is infested with bed bugs is a nasty surprise, it’s just as bad, or worse, to hear just how much it will cost you to get rid of them. For a single room, you can spend up to $1,000 to get rid of these parasites. It can be significantly less, or it can be as expensive as we mentioned, depending on the level of the infestation and the methods which will be used in order to remove them. According to some calculations done by newspapers, a landlord can spend $80,000 when trying to clean a big apartment building.

Picking an exterminator

A person’s first thought when they hear that they have bed bugs in their house is to remove the infestation immediately. They shouldn’t hurry though, researching the necessary steps instead and making sure everything is handled properly. If you hire a company to do the job, you should make sure that they have the necessary license. You should also make sure they know what they’re doing and that they have experience and a few years behind them. They should be familiar with these parasites and with the methods required to exterminate them. Your friends might be able to give you some recommendations on companies that are good at pest control.

Inspections

Once you get in touch with a company, they usually send inspectors in order to find out what the problem is. You should know in advance whether the evaluation will be done freely or if you need to pay for it. Each company can be different, so don’t assume anything. There are companies out there which have dogs which are trained to sniff any pests that might be around and they usually cost.

Interviews

Once the inspection is over, you should ask the questions you might have. You should ask about the methods which will be used in the process. A lot of companies combine multiple treatments, including pesticides, vacuuming and steam heat. You should also know a bit about the insurance policy of the company and the things covered by it. The guarantee should be given in writing, so that you are aware of the things you’re getting in return. Some infestations will require additional visits, so you should know if they’re included in the price or if they need to be paid extra.

Cost Saving Measures

Don’t go after the cheapest company. Go after the one that will do the best job. If it’s also a cheap company, that’s great. Remember to always check all the bed bug exterminator prices before you decide which company you will hire for the job.
